Eating what is in Season for the Summer

Hi Loves hope your all doing great. With August upon us we are in the middle of Summer and so many yummy fruits and vegetables are in season that we can’t usually get fresh during the winter months. So I wanted to share some of my favorites, I know we can get stuck in the same rut of eating the same foods over and over so its good to try new things and explore!

Watermelon which is one of my favorites for of all the benefits it provides for your health, Watermelon is so hydrating and has so many great minerals of potassium, magnesium ,copper,Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, and antioxidants Vitamin C and lycopene. Watermelon can help reduce blood pressure ,decrease muscle soreness and help speed up recovery after physical activities. Watermelon has so many other benefits besides the fruit, you can use the inside of the rind to cool a Sunburn. You can eat the seeds for a protein packed snack, you can even add the rind to juices or infusions. It’s best to buy organic Watermelon as they absorb everything in the water in the vicinity of the plant . I could go on and on about my favorite fruits so I will just give you a few that are in season right now that maybe you wouldn’t have tried. Peaches , Cherries , Persimmons,Tangerines,Plums, Pomegranates just to name a few. It is best to eat fruit when it is ripest.

Some Vegetables that are in season right now are Cucumber, Collard Greens, Kale, Sweet Potatoes, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Dandelion, Jicama, Lettuce and many more healthy yummy vegetables. If you have a farmers market in your area that is a great place to find in season foods and a great way to support local farmers! Summer is a really great time to eat fresh Salads and to enjoy the colorful fruit bowls . Summer is one of my favorite seasons for eating everything is so fresh and vibrant! Enjoy trying some new fruits and veggies this season!

Hope this finds you all in good spirits until next time
